Choices Part II : The Four N's

Gene Castelli from Columbus, Ohio writes: Life is based on choice. It is one of the most powerful single forces that guide our every step throughout our lives. You wake up, you choose what to wear. You choose what to eat for breakfast. You choose which shoe to put on first. So many choices.

With such obvious evidence that life is full of choices, it is amazing that so many people forget that they always have a choice.

“Do this or you’ll be fired!” Hopefully you never have to hear that exact phrase or anything like it, but the fact is we are confronted with similar phrases like this every day.

  • “Make your quota or no bonus.”
  • “Clean your room or no supper.”
  • “Try my tuna casserole surprise, you’ll like it.”

OK, the last one is something I hope you never have to hear. But the fact remains that life is made up of a stream of constant choices, some with positive incentives, and some with horrible consequences (See Tuna Casserole Surprise above).

You just lost your job, and guess what. Here comes a choice.

Every day in every city two people will lose their jobs. One figuratively climbs to the top of a building and jumps off and the other person goes out and finds a better job.
Which one will you be?

The great lesson of choice can be remembered by possibly the worst use of English sentence structure. The Four N’s. It’s that simple. The Four N’s.

Nobody can make Nobody do Nothing Never. Think about it. Nobody can make Nobody do Nothing Never.

You always have the choice, in every situation. You always have the choice to choose what you want to do. Of course, there are always consequences, but once you remove the barrier of doubt that you have the final choice in every aspect of your life, once you realize nobody can make you do nothing that you don’t want to do, you can achieve great things.

You will feel more in control of your life if you apply the Four N’s to your decisions. Believe in the Four N’s, and when doubt creeps in on what you are thinking, apply the simple lesson of the Four N’s.

Nobody can make Nobody do Nothing Never.
